Disney College Program- Concierge Role

Today’s post I will talk about the Concierge Role. I have had previous experience in the position and absolutely enjoyed it. You start off by attending a series of classes at Disney University for the Front Desk Cashier role, depending on your resort you may have to attend an additional class for Disney Vacation Club. Once your classes are complete you go to your resort and do on the job training. Each resort is different, but you pretty much learn your resort’s check-in process and how to call for a ready room. After about 2 to 3 weeks of Front Desk shifts, you head back to Disney University for 3 days of Concierge classes where you learn LILO Ticketing, Guest Service Recovery, al a carte, and cast applications. Once your class is complete, you go back to your location and do additional on the job training for Concierge. Once everything is complete, you are an official concierge Cast Member. Shifts for the concierge desk varies from the front desk. The Concierge desk is only opened until 10pm and reopens at 7am the following morning, while the front desk remains open 24 hours. A typical CP shift for concierge will most likely be the closing shift from 15:00-22:30 or something similar to that. A typical day at the concierge desk will include selling tickets for the park, arranging transportation to and from Universal or Sea World, assisting guests with their dining plans, making dining reservations, providing information about the Disney Theme Parks, and assisting the front desk with check and check outs. You are also responsible for your own bank of money which you need to count at the start and end of your shifts. Breaks are assigned to you by the Frontline Service Advisor (Coordinator) and they are also there to help you with escalated guest situations, as well as Managers. The concierge role is a lot of fun, and I found it to be very rewarding. If you have any other questions about this role, feel free to contact me and I’ll be more than happy to help!

    1. He should totally try the Disney College Program, a lot of people who are successful got their start in the College Program, Imagineers included! He can network with them and see how a day in the life of an Imagineer is! Also I know you said you frequently visit Disney World, are you aware that Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes reservations to dine with an Imagineer? It might also be something worth checking out and you can make reservations here:

      1. Yes I did know that. Thanks for the tip. The problem is getting the reservation. Been trying like crazy but is always filled! I’m going to keep trying. Wish we could pay to follow one at work for a day!
